Default gasoline in Cummins

My daughter put 21 gallons of gasoline in a buddies 36 gallon diesel truck tank and ran it till it needed a tow truck. I understand it will reach 55 mph but ran rough. It's a 2004 Cummins. What is likely to have happened to this engine if anything? It has not been drained and restarted yet. Thanks for any help.

Lift Pump, Injection Pump, and all 6 Injectors are more then likely toast. Those are the parts that are going to be effected the most by putting gasoline into the fuel system.

that would be a good start added the cost of draining the tank, flushing the system, fuel filter oil change ect...

No other issues? Wouldn't most of the problems be lubrication related?

I was on a trip when a guy filled his almost empty brand new Ford completely with gas. It quit within a mile or so. Drained and refilled. No damage.

This Cummins had a 60/40 mix in it and ran for an hour. What are the chances it will be OK? Any chance?

Let you know how it turns out tomorrow.

There is a chance that it will be fine but better off looking to the worst side of it and being prepared for it.

once the mogas is drained and the system primed back up with diesel you will be able to better tell what kind of damage is done.

I doubt any damage took place. these engines are very resielant and can take alot of abuse before something breaks

That is true what Drew said, it really is hard to seriously hurt a Diesel, unless there is a flaw in the design. However I always look to the worst case scenario first to prepare myself . Like Drew said once you drain, flush and prime the system, you'll know a lot more.
