So seems my new exhaust has too much extra air flow out the back of the Def Muffler and while cruising at very light acceleration it has a vibration, shutter, shake on the highway. so 1500 Rpm at 70 Mph or so if i lightly push the gas to keep rolling speed it does it. I'm about 95% its the exhaust causing this, i'm just wondering what can be done to make it stop. It seems maybe a better air filter so it can breath or some type of increased air flow on the intake side. I have been thinking about a K&N to replace just the deep stock air filter. The exhaust is stock except the tail pipe behind the Def muffler,but i did notice there is a sensor right at the exit of that muffler where i installed the new pipe.

 

Are you sure the exhaust is not touching the frame. I have not heard of cat back exhaust causing vibrations. Are you sure its not torque converter shutter?

 

I know its not touching anything frame wise, but i was also thinking it might be the torque converter too so thats funny you would suggest that. My truck has between 7-8 thousand miles on it and i would hope its not the torque converter but i did read a few other forum posts about torque converters.

 

And as i think about it the truck hasnt been doing this the whole time the exhaust has been installed, it just started the last week or two

 

and since then i have noticed my truck taking longer to accelerate and feeling like something is slipping during acceleration. Still the time i notice it the most is like i said 1500 Rpm and around 70 Mph on the highway, it almost feels like its bouncing on the road when it starts. maybe i can try turning Tow on while its doing it.

 

I searched for a TSB that could be related to your concern, but unfortunately was unable to find one. As you should still be under warranty, I would recommend bringing your vehicle to a dealership to have them take a look at this. These new transmissions have alot of electronics. May be the torque converter lock up solenoid. All new transmission shift really soft. They slide into gear. May want to take it in with it being so new.

 

Thank Yall, I'm gonna look into taking it in here soon. I just got it back after they replaced the timing cover gasket, had a pretty nasty leak going on. I have had a torque converter go out on my 95 Ram 1500 years ago, but this one doesnt have any of the signs that one did.

 

The dealerships in my area are a little shady sadly. This is my 4th vehicle and 2nd new with a warranty. The 2 dealership near me where not very helpful and this last time with the timing gasket there where wire looms left loose against the block and other s that could have burned them, not to count a vacumn hose clamp left off and the oil was halfways between the safe line on my dipstick.
