Default Vaccuum Pump Problems

What happens when the vaccuum pump goes out? Does the truck still run? Mine is leaking oil around the front seal. Can the seal be replaced or do I need a new pump?

When your vaccum pump goes out you can still drive it but you might lose breaking power. The seal can be replaced, but make sure to replace it before the pump goes out completely because they are very expensive. Hope that helps!

a new seal kit runs less than $9 (4089742) from Cummins. . .or $65 from Dodge with the same Cummins part number

It's been leaking oil for quite a while. I guess it's time for the new seal. Is it hard to replace?

apparently it is not here is a kit that I found that even includes a CD on how to replace it.

it is pretty easy to do if you have the tools and a little know-how. click on the TDR logo in my sig and hit up the second gen section and look through there.

My vaccum pump is also leaking, I bought a rebuild, but the damn thing is leaking as well, not as bad mind you, but id rather have NO leaking

would it be better to buy a rebuild kit and do it myslef? OR buy a new vaccum pump that costs 3k from dodge, or is there another option that sells new vaccum pumps for cheaper? WABCO maybe?

thanks
