'05 Squeeks when I shut it off. Problem???
My 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 w/ the Cummins makes a pretty good squeek when I shut it off, almost like the belt is stalling the motor out and not the ignition cutting out. I have never had a diesel before so I wanted to make sure it wasn't normal before I took it in for service. I've only had the truck for a month and I've put the first 4500 miles on it as of today. Thanks for your help!
it's all that power comeing to a stop
if you want the squeek to go away look at getting a goodyear gatorback belt. that usualy does the trick.

I may make this switch too, as we come home late at night after work and it tends to be really loud in the dark of night! haha. The brand of belt shouldn't matter as far as warranty goes or anything, should it? This is the serpentine-type belt, right?

a belt is a belt. warranty will not be affected.
I have the 6-speed so I dont get the "squeeks" like the auto guys have

I have a 05 2500 quad and it makes the same noise.
i also hear what sounds like a small moaning sound when i just pull out of the driveway and i'm going less then 25 or 30 mph just down the street but that noise seems to only happen when it is cold and seems to go away pretty quickly. I don't know if its just my truck or not, but my truck has less then 1500 miles on it at this time and maybe she doen't like getting up in the morning?

I think its the alternator coming to a stop, because the engine stops faster. Is that right?

correct.
with the auto the TC and flex plate does not weigh as much as the flywheel on the manuals and since the engine has a high compression the flywheel has enough mass to keep the engine spinning just a little longer than the TC flex plate combo.
