Default Tires on a 98.5 2500 Diesel

I'm getting ready to purchase a 98.5 24V 2500 4x4 automatic. Right now the tires on it are some junk used ones, only 4ply sidewall or something. So, I need to replace them before I take off with the truck. I'm trying to decide between load range D(8-ply) and Load range E(10-ply). I don't tow all the time, I know the E tires would give a rougher ride, anyone have any experience with the 2 different types on a diesel truck? Anyone know if the E tires would last longer than D? Wear should only have to do with compound, while load rating is all in the sidewall, just figured I'd gets others thoughts. Which tire do the guys with daily driver diesels put on?

Personally, I have load range D on my 05.
If you dont do any towing then the D range should be the best for you.
Talk to a tire dealer and see what they recommend.

Ds are fine. I wouldnt put E load range unless you have the need for them. e.g. a real heavy tongue weight.

Even with D rated tires you can do some lighter towing. You just shouldn't tow cross country or 10000 lbs - nothing crazy.
