Default First thread. Hi. Need differential.

Have had a 2nd gen 12 v for about 8 months now. Has been good minus a few things. But last night I took it to get firewood. Had the sucker loaded to the gills and started to drive home. The road that we were driving were awful. Long story short, suddenly the truck comes to an abrupt stop. The left rear tire/axle had come out of the rear differential and tore up the end of the spindle. Axle, I hope, is not bent. Had it towed today. Wondering if anyone has a good place to source a differential for a 2500 5.9 4x4 with 4.10 gears.

Any helpw would be appreciated. Ebay seems like they just have rusty old crap with over 200000 miles. Don't know if I want to risk spending close to a grand getting it here and then having to rebuild it. If anyone has a good one lying around, I'd love to talk business.

thanks in advance.

Spindle just bolts on doesn't it? Why not just rebuild the one you have?

If that spindle does come off then replacing that and rebuild would make total sense. I ripped the brake assembly apart, (tire and axle were already off along with hub) and could not see how to detach the spindle from the differential. But it was a quick look. If anyone has done this please let me know and I'll start ordering some parts and plan accordingly. Thanks.

Should be just four bolts, the backing plate (drum brakes) is sandwiched between the housing, and the spindle.

It's looking doubtful. Most guys seem to be cutting off another axle tube and spindle and welding it on. might be easier to find another differential.
