Default fuel gauge quit working after shop work

Recently had work done on my 1997 Dodge Ram diesel because vehicle would not shift correctly. That problem was fixed, but now the fuel gauge reads empty. It starts to rise, and then falls to 0. It sounds like something the mechanic forgot to reconnect. Would like to fix myself as I live 3 hrs away from the mechanic. Any ideas?

There is only one connector on the fuel tank, and you should be able to see it if you look between the bed, and the frame rail, just in front of the rear tire. Make sure it is plugged in nice and tight.
