Default Cold Start Timer

Well, the weather's cooling off and I'm reminded about something bothersome.
My cold start light stays on for too long, in my opinion. I'm not sure if my 2012 Ram 3500 diesel uses glow plugs or not, but......
do any of you have advice regarding this? Is it OK to just start it up before the light goes out? Man, my wife's 06 GMC diesel stays on for about 2 seconds!
I've searched this site for other posts on this but havent found any.
This is also my first post on this great Forum!
Thanks.

No glow plugs, uses a grid heater to heat incoming air. It should warm up right quick......

Sorry for the late reply HeyYou. Like I said, my Duramax is 'right quick', but this truck takes way too long. Sometimes pisses me off enough to just start it anyway. Am I possibly causing any damge doing that?
I'm suprised no one else has chimed in on this. Maybe mine has an uncommon problem.

So long as it actually starts, I don't think it would be doing any damage...... not like you are doing anything the motor doesn't do anyway. Now, if you had to crank it for a long time before it actually fired...... that might shorten starter motor life, but, that's about all I can think of.....
