Strange Issue 24 Valve
Hey guys,
After a bunch of research online into this topic, I come to you with a strange issue with my second gen Cummins.
So, I've had the truck for a while and I'm quite happy with it, however I have noticed a strange issue: my wait to start light does not come on, or cycle, or show up during a cluster test.
I have replaced the relays, as well as the heater itself (I got a used heater from a friend who assured me it worked)
Still no light on the dash. I have absolutely no issue starting the truck, even today where I am it was 1 degree C and it fired right up.
Most people online assume the ECM is failing, which perhaps it is, I'm not so sure though as the truck starts and runs flawlessly.
I'm wondering if anybody else has run into a similar issue? As is right now I'm not super concerned as the truck runs great with awesome fuel economy, it's just a strange quirk.
The motor was changed by the previous owner, which I have the paperwork for, so I'm assuming they re-used the original ECM, but I am not positive on that. The used motor has just over 250 000km's.
Truck Specs:
1998.5 Ram 2500 Ext. Cab 4x4 NV4500

Is the bulb in the dash bad?
Could try a cluster test to see. Just press and hold the trip/reset button, turn the ignition to on, (not start) release when the test starts. All the lights will come on, and gauges will run thru a full sweep. See if the light comes on.

Hey, thanks for the reply!
I did a cluster test and the light did not cycle.
I was under the impression that the red lights in the cluster are non replaceable? If that's the case then I'm not super concerned. I have experience with changing out the yellow idiot lights, I may need to pull the cluster again to confirm if that's the issue, if so I have a full pack of replacement bulbs in my center console.

Okay, thanks!
Update:
This morning I went out and replaced the bulb, I tried several different bulbs (All New) but still no light cycle, not even with a cluster test.
I checked all my fuses and they are working. All other indicator lights in my cluster function as they should. Truck still starts fine.
