Default Pyrometer probe location

I have an 05 Dodge 2500 with the obvious 24V engine and I am trying to locate a place to put the probe. Is the manifold above the turbo thick enough for pipe thread or the elbow behind the turbo thick enough. should I drop the exhaust and weld a bung on the pipe behind the elbow. where have you guys mounted the probe, If nobody can answer then can somebody show me where to search. thanks for your input.

I drilled mine right where #3 dumps into the manifold. pre-turbo will give you more accurate numbers.

oh, BTW, the manifold is thicker than you think, I would guess about 1/4 inch thick

just to let you know there is no need to pull the turbo, I used a heavy gease that held onto the metal shavings and did the same thing when I tapped the threads. I did head a little metal hit the turbine fins, however they are not moving fast enoguh to cause any damage
