Wanting the best Intake for my 05 Cummins
I'm trying to find the best performing intake for my 05 Dodge 5.9 Cummins. So far, everything I've read gave comparable performance gains. So, which one is the "best"? I'd like something shiny, but it's not a requirement.
BHAF. . .for about $50 you can do it yourself. then spend the cash you saved on a box.
just check out my post on the BHAF and that will give you a better idea.
BTW, I can tell slightly better throttle responce with it. better fuel mileage is still up in the air.
this setup works best if you pull out the baffeling in the down tube.
edit: God my spelling is atrocious

I have a 05 2500 quad and I installed a Airaid Jr. kit.
it was quick and easy and light on the wallet.
comes with the filter which is the same concept as K&N only the Airaid is built a little better and breaths just as well if not better.
Also it comes with a replacement Mit. which replaces the section between the intake box and the turbo.
The factory Mit's are designed to help reduce noise and is a little more restrictive (who wants that) then a straight Mit with no baffels which comes with the airaid kit.
Can't say I have seen any real mpg increase, but it definately breaths better and is a little more responsive at the throttle. I think it just matters how fancy you want to get. Just my .02 cents worth.
Next is muffler elimination!!

unfortunately, I can't lose the muffler considering the Police department is about a mile away & they are a known for doing inspections on the spot -- i.e. gotta stay legal or at least legal to the eye.
i have the Airaid Jr. on my 04.5. maybe a little mileage increase, a little better throttle response, and a serious amount of 'whoosh' sound when the hammer is down.
