I'm looking at buying a new truck too. I don't know where you live but Viking Dodge in Illinois has what they call their no dicker sticker. They are coming down approximately $10,000.

Go to Dodge.com You can get all the tech data you want on the diesel. My 2005 brochure shows a Quad Cab 4 x2, 3500 series with a trailer rating of 16,300. Perhaps the Mega Cab will weigh more than the Quad.

i would go with the 24 valve cummins and a 6 speed. The automatic would be alright but the 6 speed would be ideal. Then i would recommend a large pick up. 2500(cant buy a cummins under 2500) 4 door long or short box. Either that or depending on where you go a 3500 dually would be the best truck for the job. Iv heard nothing but good about the cummins and the 6 speed combo. HOPE THIS HELPS JARED

YUP!!!

if you want the auto it will handle the load just as well as the g56 manual. also begining in late 05 and for 06 you can get an exhaust brake for the auto.

I know quite a few guys that tow heavier than you do and after 150,000K the only time the truck saw the dealership was to have the drip edge seal on the doors replaced. the new 06's I believe have this issue fixed.

the only thing I hear about the axels are that the AAM ball joints tend to be a bit on the weak side. mine are still holding up very well after 26K.

these trtucks are like rockets, and will pull a house without breaking a sweat.
