Default ram 2500 deisel 350 000 km

I am thinking of buying a 98 ram 2500 deisel standard shift. It has 350 000 km on it, mostly highway miles. I am wondering what to expect out of it. I have known the truck its whole life ( no major problems). Is it going to start having major problems with it? It still has the original cluch. The only problem with it has been a seal that cracked (the dealership said that this happens to some of them) and the oil spilled out everywhere, it has been fixed. I am looking for some advice and what I could expect to go wrong with the truck with this kind of mileage. I don't want to buy it and then find I have to pour money into fixing things all the time. Thanks

Default RE: ram 2500 deisel 350 000 km

first thing would be to get the clutch changed, it wont last too much longer, second, what the oil spill was from is the Killer Dowel Pin, something that alot of Cummins have a problem with, and infact there are many fixes for this. the 98 and later usualy dont have this problem.

but one quick question, is it a 12 valve or 24 valve. the 24 valves have a rather nasty habit with the VP44 injector pump. if the lift pump dies the VP44 also dies with it. however, if you catch the lift pump before it does die then you can save the VP44. if it is the 12 valve then you have the P7100 injector pump and you can easily turn that truck into a hotrod
