take his advice then

the 03's have the 48RE. it is a good unit at what it does, but would be better with atleast another gear. but turn the line pressure up and the shifts become MUCH firmer. replace the valve body, install billet input and output shafts, throw in a tripple disk torque converter, and install different clutch material and you have a tranny that can hold 2x the power.

in stock form it can handle about 75 horse over stock pretty well, but just dont go mad on the throttle alot with over 75 horse, or you will break stuff.

Another question... the EGT's lower is better no doubt, the modded truck had a pyro reading max of 800~825. I keep hearing #'s like the 1000's any idea why it would be so low? and is that a plus that it was that low?

I am willing to bet the EGT probe was after the turbo. doing so will result in a lower EGT reading of about 200F. even stock running 1500rpm and the throttle to the floor low boost I'll see 1100F. but as soon as the boost comes in the temps usualy go down to 900F. my temps are done pre-turbo and give a more realistic value as to what the turbo is seeing.

any time you can lower EGT's you are doing good. on a stock truck the best way to lower EGT's is to install an aftermarket muffler, or if the truck has a 3.5 inch exhaust to go to a 4 inch. then after you do that and the egt's are still to high(1350F pre turbo or higher) it is time to upgrade turbo's.

the exhaust on that truck was massive... at least 4" do you have any pics of where you located your egt sensor?

if they were 03's then they have a 3.5 inch from the turbo, then either before the muffler of at the muffler it goes to 4 inches.

the best thing to do if you get an 03 is to put in a full 4 inch. also, with the HPCR engines which is what the 03's are, that year has the best mileage than any year.

if you look at the exhaust manifold where it comes off the head, I put my EGT probe where cyl #3 meets the rest of the pipe. that is a popular spot, however cyl #6 is the hottest cylinder.

would this be the 305 hp motor? that would be the bare minimum. i'd prefer the 325 but i've seen some pretty good mods available for the 305 as well... (mods are oh so important!)

i more thing u ask about the waranty i bout my 01 this last november at a dodge dealer during the paper work they had the waranty transfer stuff and did it i only had about six months left on it and touch less than 20k but in about a month i had the 100k on it but i had the dealer do a new lift pump on it it had a turn up box on it and they held up the waranty cause they sold it to me with the box on and said truck still under waranty landmark dodge in marrow ga wasnt happy but they put it in writin no me but if you are getting it thru a dodge dealer they can or will offer u an extended waranty on them as well but if you are getting it from diffrent dealer or indivdual i dont no about the waranty transfer but if you mod it they better be removable or most service managers want waranty at stealerships but cummins will unless it is a fuel issue they dont normaly hold the warnty cause powerboxs affect the fuel mainly(timming to i no)
