Freaking out with the Diesel cost...!!!
Just to add my .02. My '05 2500 only got about 15mpg when I first got it. I now have 20K on it and if I keep it below 2000 rpm I get almost 22mpg and 15mpg when towing my 26' 7000lb trailer.
But we all have to remember what our gas burning counterparts are getting per gallon. I have a buddy with an '05 2500 with a hemi and he's only getting about 14mpg on the freeway with about 10K on the truck and he never goes over 70mph. While he might be paying about 30% less on fuel, he's getting about 50% less mileage per gallon than I am. That puts me way ahead. That's all based on the prices of gas & diesel in central Texas. I am assuming the price differences would be pretty much the same wherever you are in the U.S.

While it is true he paid 5k less for his truck the CTD will just be getting broken in when his engine goes in the sh*tter. Plus when you combine fuel savings, life expectancy of the engine, and resale value the CTD is a better value.

you got it.
who wants to buy a gasser with 200K???
on the other hand a diesel with 200K still has MANY miles left on it
I wholeheartly agree a Cummins gets better with age. My 99 has 111,000 and gets 20.5 solid around town and commuting to work.
Tell the wife about how much money you'll be saving not buying spark plugs, distributor caps, rotors, and ignition wires.
Tell the wife how much more time you'll have to spend together.
Your choice............
