Default 1st gen cummins- winter

im thinking about getting a first generation cummins to play around with... and my question is how well do they start up in the winter... like are the 1st gens before they put glowplugs in vehicles or what ...i porbably wont drive it to much in the winter but i dont want to have to wast 30 minutes in the freezing *** cold if i dont have to

1st Gens start fine in the winter. Remember when the "wait to start" light comes on, heed it. When its below 30 or so cycle the grid heaters twice. Mine always fires right up. Mine also warms up real quickly too. But YMMV on that. So make sure you have a decent battery in there because you may need it when its really cold. I use the block heater for about an hour (on a timer) overnight and it fires right up. You'll never notice it on your electric bill.
