Default better mileage with edge ez

Hello everybody new guy here. I bought a used 03 quad cab 2500 4x4 CTD a few months ago with 63k on the clock. it has a 47 re auto and 411's with stock size michelins.

I had been getting about 18 mpg mostly highway, and installed a used (ebay) edge ez computer this week and am now showing 23 mpg on the overhead console meter.

Kinda hard to believe this big a gain, hope it's true!

the edge is set to level 4 (70 hp /220 tq).

anyone had an experience like this?

Do a hand calc of the mileage. The overhead is being feed bad data by the edge ez so the displayed mileage is no longer valid. At most you should only see a 10% increase with the edge on 1. I suspect you are probably only getting 19mpg.

What are you basing the 10% on. Any data on milage improvements on other settings?

TBNorge is correct. Do the math yourself to get the best results. I have found those fuel mileage computers to be inaccurate.

As have I. The one in my V10 is off. The one in my Grand Prix is off. The one in my Bonneville is off. The ONLY one that was ever correct for me was the one in our '92 Caravan.

Doing the calculations by hand is always the best way to do it.

I run a stock '06 2500 CTD and the overhead has always been off at least 2 to 3 miles, in my favor though. The dealer where I bought my truck from tried to get me to buy a programmer for my truck new off the lot and I said I would wait and see. at 7500 mile oil change the accessory guy finally admitted to me that the programmer would only boost my mileage by about a mile or two from what I am averaging which is 18 to 20 per gallon. So I am still running stock.

i also have '03 2500 QC 4x4 ctd 55k w/ edge ez set on 4 also.
this is the full test results i have made on mine
i use diesel-power service fuel additive @16 0z. and marvel mystery oil @ 8 oz per tank.

First hwy mileage: 19.5 @75 mph 21.5 @ 66mph.calculated from actual fuel usage.
note this is a 5 test run of over 500 miles each.
please also note that the mileage as was noted in other post before shows up 2 to 2.5 mpg [Off] on the over head computer. True very true!

Second City mileage has been 16.5 to 17 every tank thats calculated also.
with the new turbo timer on my truck i have seen about .5 mpg loss for idle time that goes with a turbo timer. hope this helps Keep Rammin!!!!!!!!!!!
