VP44 is the model number of the injector pump, Bosch model. And, yes, the lift pump feeds the injector pump (VP44). There are otehr models for other vintage trucks, the new common rail trucks are a Bosch CP3 injector pump. Clear it up a little?

Thanks Batphreak. That helps.

I took a look at the tranny cooler last night, and it appears to be mounted in front of the radiator. I didn't measure it but it seems to be about 36" to 42" across and about 18" to 24" tall.

My build date is 12/98, if that tells you anything.
