Yes, it will...not to mention it's highly illegal to tamper with the emissions system

If he didn't want his warranty honored....and didn't want to take it to the dealer for any future work, then I'd say go for it. But if he wants to keep his warranty (I know I would), it's best that he leave it there.

He'd more than likely also need an oxygen sensor simulator to replace the downstream sensor behind the converter. Without the converter in place it will set a code.

Yes, the sensor is for gassers. They put a cat on to "clean" up the diesels but I thought diesel emissions have very different readings compared to gas. My 04.5 was suppossed to have a cat, but I bought it used from a dealership w/o one and I've never had a warranty issue when its at the shop. I think the 04.5's are the only ones who can get away with this though because the 04 didn't have a cat.

There is also a product that you can buy and pour into the cat and it will eat out the inner packing. I can't remember the name, but it does exsist.

all of the 600 series motors have cats from my understanding. I looked at the std output motors '03, HO motors in '03 & '04 and as long as they were a 305 motor or less (hp) they did not have a cat. All of the 600/610 motors I looked at all had cats.

Yes, the 04's are the 305 motors, but the 04.5's are 600 series.

the CAT is there because of CARB. I know Georgia doesnt have any laws about cats on diesels. it is just a matter of which state you live in.

yes, it can be illegal to yank the cat off, but you just have to check with your own state to see.
