Default oil change question

the service manuals and my dealer said to change the oil in my ctd every 7500 miles. i'm sure this will work, but it just seems like alot. of course the dealers say that my wifes new honda can go 10,000 miles before an oil change (i don't think so). you guys that have had your td's for a while, what schedule are you going by? i just hit 5k and will probably have it changed it this week.

I would think that you are probably safe to go 7500 miles if you are not in dusty conditions alot or you are not towing alot. I changed mine in my 02' diesel about every 5000 to 7000 miles of course depending upon how the truck was being used. It is your call but I say your safe at 7500 miles if you want to wait. My 06' has 1200 miles on it so it will be a while but I will probably change the first round at 3000 then every 5000 to 7000 after that.

I change my oil and filter every 5000 miles. Fuel and air filters every 10,000 miles.

Send a sample to a lab at 5000 miles and see what they say. They'll recommmend what you should do and give you an in depth description of what's goin' on inside your motor good or bad.

Cheers
