fuel pump cable?
I bought this '98 12V Ram 3500 CTD in Oct and have not found out what this cable does. It runs from a **** in the cab to the fuel pump, I believe. It has no brand name on it and does not appear to change idle speed. Anybody know anything about this?
This is the **** mounted in the cab.

It goes straight to this connection on the pump

What you have there is a in cab mounted fuel control. You can control the RPM of the moter with that, just turn to the left and pull out. If You have that, you might just have a PTO mounted to the tranny
either that or a go faster control.
my first thought was that you could lay the throttle to the floor, pull that little guy and get more juice.
but now that Troy mentioned that, it would seem like a better explanation.

It doesn't change RPM speed at all. It is a twist to adjust (as in it takes about 7 turns to go fully in either direction). But I did notice with it all the way clockwise, I lose A LOT of power and something in the engine seems louder (maybe the pump??), and I don't get any black smoke while heavy pedal-ing it. Could this increase my fuel mileage, or am I just adjusting something that shouldn't be adjusted?
