Default exhaust question...

new member here.. i need to see if i can get some feedback on turbo back exhaust systems... have a 06 2500 and want to put a true 4" system on but this time around i want one that performs on the dyno but is docile at idle and crusing speed but of course can be aggressive while dropping the hammer... dont want any drone either... i had a banks monster exhaust on my 04.5 and it was nice but i want to go another route this time???.... magnaflow, volont or who??? i do not want to be heard from 5 blocks away??? any idea's???

I did a cat delete and a 30" magnaflow straight thru and like it alot. not too loud under normal driving conditions and plenty of flow. the only time I hear it is when I hammer it and the boost is at 36 psi...

under load it is louder, cruising - negligable, idle - negligable. it is really good in my opinion. too loud can get old after a while. it flows really well and the turbo spools much faster. when I have my AFE stage 2 kit on there, I over boost really easy with my edge set on 1.

Did you have to weld the muffler in? I saw a magnaflow with 4" inlets that claimed it would clamp on to existing pipes. What about the cat delete? Just go to a muffler shop for that or can you buy something yourself?

I bought a 4" 4' piece of exhaust from Summit racing ($14 bux) and had intended on doing the cat delete myself but never had the time. since I wanted it done, I ended up going to an exhaust shop to let them do it. $225 installed for the muffler, and cat delete.
