The only thing I came up with searching for P0071 on Dodge / Chrysler was "ambient temp sensor performance" and / or "batt. temp. sensor perf" Cant tell ya more than that though.

I did find a PDF of a list of codes from a Dodge / Chrysler SuperChips DTC reader.

Heres the link. (hopefully)

http://redhat3.admarkonline.com/~sup...install-34.pdf

This is pretty fine print so youll have to use the zoom or magnify icon on the tool bar.

Hope this helps.

if you look in the FAQ section at the top I posted a link to a site that has a good breakdown for the trouble codes. . .only thing is '00' arent in it. it starts at '01' and anything above 1000 is manufacturer specific.

most of the codes I see are in this list and generaly narrow down to either the MAP sensor voltage too high or low, or the IAT.

When I do an LOF on diesels I take the inlet hose off the turbo and unplug the MAP sensor then remove the housing.
If I forget to plug the sensor back in, that is the code I get.

Not that I expect that to help you, I just wanted to share.

There is a TSB that deals with this. It involves "flashing" new software. I just did this flash on a members truck and it took care of his problem. Hope this helps.... Let me know if you have any questions... Click and read >>>>>> http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2006/18-005-06a.htm

Default It's the ambient air temperature sensor.

It's located on the drivers side behind the grill. Should see it next to the radiator just to the right as you're facing the the engine. 14.97 with shipping from Rockauto.com
