Unexplained power loss ??
I have a 2006 Ram 2500 with a Cummins and tow an 8700 Pound 5th wheel trailer. My truck only has 2718 miles on it and it seems to have developed a significant power loss when towing and the "diesel clatter" is considerablly louder than when I bought the truck 6 weeks ago. The dealer says no "trouble codes" show on the computer. Anybody got any ideas ???
I would get them to check the pressure of the lift pump. not realy a lift pump for 06's since it is in the tank, but the same Carter crapola pump is used.
if you dont have enough fuel going to the CP3 injector pump the engine is being starved of fuel.
now, just to give you a heads up, dont let them BS you and say everything is fine with you sitting there idleing, put the guy from the stealership in the passenger seat with the meter hooked to the OBDII port and go down the road. I bet idle you have 15 pounds, but rolling you have about 3-4 and full throttle youve got nuthin.
the 3-4psi is ok if your running 2500+rpm with the throttle pushed into the floorboard
