Getting a new torque converter. Shoud be here on Tues.

Took 2 of the techs for a ride, they both drove and both thought the same thing. Too much vibration to be the engine and too isolated of an RPM range.

Hopefully this a sign of things to come.

I was actually pretty surprised by them. I didn't have to fight or argue with them at all. Even the Service Manager was decent. He just asked his guys what they thought and said, "Okay, order it." [sm=shades.gif]

Now, this is much more than I can say for the sales department. I had to go back into Drill Sergeant mode with them. I don't think the new car sales manager has ever gotten ripped up like he did.

Well, got the truck back today. After it was at the dealer for 3 DAYS to REPLACE A TORQUE CONVERTER!!!!

As soon as I got there they were taking it for a test drive and then, for some reason, it had to go back on the lift. So I knew something was screwy. [sm=confused06.gif]

So they pull it back down and tell me it's all set. Service Manager tells me it checks out fine. Well, needless to say, I'm a little skeptical.

So first things first, I open the door and there is friggin grease all over my floor and the seats. So now I'M TICKED! [sm=WTFsgign.gif]

Then, with the service guy looking out the garage, I crawl under the truck. They beat the tranny cross member out, to the point that the bolts wouldn't line up. So what did they do? LEFT 2 bolts out! [sm=bustedsign.gif]

I go stormin' to the door and the Service Manager is already heading toward it too. He starts right off, "We are ordering a new cross member.....yadda, yadda, yadda."

So I go tearing into him for a few about that, then make him call one of the detail shops in town that I like and make him give me a full inside and out detail job to get all the crap outta my truck from his "techs".

Now I take the truck (I had to move today, it's going back in) and as soon as I hit 1600 RPM, I feel the same vibe. Well, I decide it'll be better to just bring it back when the cross memeber comes in, as I might have choked the snot outta everyone I could get my hands on if I had gone back. [sm=violent053.gif]

NOT A HAPPY CAMPER! To say the least. [sm=bicker.gif]

Never trust your car to the man who wears the star (ASE patch). I took my truck to the dealer once for a service, got grease all over and spilled fuel all over my engine. Needless to say after making them detail it and steam clean the engine I was still pissed, so I had to go to the range and shot the hell out of some targets. I don't know if it will make you better, but it sure made me feel better.

I swear, do some of these guys have any ability to supervise their people and make sure work gets done right? Maybe I've been in the military too long and am just used to checking behind people and making sure what is supposed to be done, ACTUALLY IS!

I was hoping that, after the initial impression I got from the service folks, they would would actually be fairly decent. But NO! Just another example of why I absolutely despise taking my truck to the dealer for warranty work.

It would be SOOOOOOOOO nice if you could take it to a QUALIFIED mechanic and have the work done right. But instead, you are subjected to bringing it into a place, that if it isn't "throwing a code", they have no friggin clue where to look or how to fix it. If it takes anything more than a re-flash of the computer, it's as hard for them as finding chicken teeth.

I mean come on; you are a Service Manager and you would actually ALLOW your folks to send out a truck, missing tranny cross member bolts, and not tell the customer about it. Then you try making excuses after the fact. And they wonder why people hate the service departments. I would have been perfectly fine with it, if the guy TOLD ME, "Hey, we had to order a new cross member, it'll be in here in a few days." No problem, you kept me informed. But to stand there and TRY to make an excuse is rediculous.

And yes, it's a truck, it's gonna get dirty.........................BY ME!!!! I pay the bills, not them! If they wanna start paying for my truck, then by all means, leave a qt of oil on my floor. But until that time, you treat peoples stuff like you should...............LIKE IT'S THEIR PROPERTY.

Okay, rant mode off! I need a beer!

good lord dood. . .I would make sure you send the bill for the detailer to the dealership since they were the ones to do that.

second of all. . .beating the cross member out. . .Wisky, Tango, Foxtrot!!!!

I'd say they either forgot the unbolt the crossmember before pulling the tranny, thus destroying it. or when they pulled it out, someone used it as a chock block, forgot it was there and another vehicle ran over the thing.

I'm retracting my statement from earlier, sounds more like a bunch of gorillas working there.

oh, I'm still holding fast that it is the flex place is out of ballance.
