For the 2007 Model Year Dodge will have to use a new Cummins (6.7L) to meet the emmission standards and by what I have heard this new diesel could cost 4-5 thousand dollars more. Does anybody now if there is any truth to this because if there is the heavy duty business is over.

You know when I first heard of the new motor (and displacement) the first thing I thought was more power uh uh uh!!

Just imagine what mods could do to that...what a beast!

Then Drew popped in and noted all the additional emissions holding it back.

I have no doubt that someones gonna get around those and the particulate filter but that got me thinkin about the current (and previous gens) of the CTD (and other diesels).

What affect will the new (even lower) sulphur fuels have on these motors. I mean these fuels are already just about everywhere at 500ppm and are supposed to go down to like 50ppm within the next year right?

Will there be more "brews" or is bio diesel in the very real and near future for "us".

Any thoughts?

well. . .all the emissions crap these enviro wackies want actualy hurt fuel mileage, as well as these special blends of gasoline, refineries have to shut down to re-tool, it's a mess.

Since March of last year my area has been running the ULSD (>15ppm) and I havent had any trouble with it. I will say it is drier than the LSD with lubrication and my engine does run a little rougher with it. but that why I have my mix I toss into the tank.

Biodiesel, that brings up an interesting topic. for starters, BIO may be something that cannot be used in these newer trucks since they have these particulate filters in the exhaust that have to be changed, and BIO may run a bit sootier than ULSD and that would be bad for the warranty.

but I'm just brain storming. . and thats a bad thing sometimes.
