Lug Nut torque??

Default Lug Nut torque??

anyone know the recommended torque for the lugnuts with polished alum. wheels, CTD 2500 4x4?

I want to say 118ft lbs but I'm not sure. I would say call the dealer but they use impacts and probably don't even check the torque. A tire dealer would also know. The best one I've heard was "tighten it til its about to snap then back it off some". SEMPER FI

your lug nuts take more torque than a ricers engine can produce. . .clear as mud

BTW, 100 pounds is about right for all wheels but it would be good to call the dealer to make sure.

I torque mine to 100 ft. lbs, as that is what the wheel shop I bought them from said they should be. Had 60K on '04 CTD with alum 20's, and with those torqued to 100 ft. lbs. I never had a problem...

I torque mine to 135 ft. lbs. I have the 2 service manuals. Under torque specs it shows 130-135 ft. lbs.

2004 and before 1500/2500 models 135 ft/lbs
3500 145 ft/lbs

2005 up
1500 95 ft/lbs
2500 145 ft/lbs
3500 155 ft/lbs


according to Haynes

go till they strip then back off 1/4 turn
