Default Diesel as daily driver

Any of you guys use diesels as daily drivers? I'm thinking of getting a 2000-2002 dodge with cummins and am wondering if i am making a good decsion? I don't do a whole lot of towing but do occasionaly for the farm. And i am also wondering how they fare in colder weather as i live up in Canada.

Thanks!

My 02 dodge seems to work fine as a daily driver. Just have to load it down once in a while to clean the injectors. Cold weather also doesn't seem to be a problem even when I forget to plug my truck in. It still would start first time in -30 F when I was in Wyoming.

I use my 2006 for a daily driver. I bought it new at the end of Feb 06 and have 21,000 miles on it so far. It is my first diesel and am very happy so far. I avg about 18 mpg. I live in Northern NJ and travel to New England for buisiness often. I parked it in a hotel parking lot one night (so I couldnt plug it in) when the temp was 0 degrees and it started right up in the morning.

I've never had a problem starting mine in the cold. I forgot to plug it in one night it was -20 started no problems, they just take a little longer too warm up. you will love it on the farm the low end torque is awesome. good luck

You might want to consider looking at 03+ rams as they are the third gen. and will have more creature comforts for a daily driver.

I live in So Cal and dont have to worry about cold weather too much. But we do travel to Utah in December and havent had a prob starting,
I also use a MMO Power Service mix in the truck. Have been doing that since I got it.
Its a daily driver and getting around 18 to 20 using the "mix"

Daily driver?

You bet. Thats really why I bought mine, I do pull a little but mostly recreational <10K. I drive about 70-90 miles / day 6-7 days a week.

After watching my '04 Hemi depreciate with every mile I came to the realization that I was going to lose my shirt if I kept it any longer so I traded it in on a '06 CTD Mega Cab.

So many reasons why the CTD is better, Resale $$, MPG, & Reliability just to name a few.

Then there are the Mods!!! [sm=badbadbad.gif]

Love it!

Love Mine! Daily driver and of course recreational pulling. 16-18 MPG. Daily driver does suck when its a longbed and quad. I swear the parking spaces keep getting smaller.

yeah the parking space thing is crap... I almost always park as far away as needed and usually end up taking 1.5 parking stalls... who makes the decision how wide the spaces are?

Mines a daily driver and I love it... put 2500~3500 miles a month on it and have no regrets.

i drive mine everyday and love to drive it. about the parking space thing - in Louisville, where i work, spaces can be 9'x18' minimum by regulation. that sux, because i do not like parking within door ding distance from anything, and i feel like my truck is sticking 6' into the aisle.
