AUXILIARY TANK
I was wondering how i can go about plumbing in a 95Gal. auxiliary tank that I currently have in the back of my '05 2500 CTD 4X4. I would like to plumb it directly into my tank, so that i can travel further between fill ups as i am driving 400-500 Kilometers per day...
I put a "T" fitting in the 3/4 inch vent line and let gravity take over. Just dont open your fuel cap while there is fuel in the big tank. I'd highly recommend putting a cut off valve on the big tank too. I have an 01 and had to put a 1/4 inch hose from the vent tube on the sending unit and ran it up to a point higher than the aux. fuel tank because the fuel would slowly leak out the vent tube. You don't want to plug the 1/4 inch vent tube because that can cause problems. I believe there was actually some trucks that left the factory that did not have the vent cap removed and they had low power and bad MPG until the caps were removed. Other than that, I have had no problems with mine. I've got a 90 Gal aux tank and can go over 2000 miles before filling up again, unless I am towing.
