Default Edge Performance questions

Posted this on 3rd generation, but feel that this maybe the best forum????

Just traded my '96 V10 3500 in for a '06 3500 quad cab 4x4 diesel.
The dealer I purchased the '06 from is also an Edge Performance dealer.
He will honor all warranties with the Edge module installed.!!
I am planning on installing a AFE air filter "stage 2" and the Edge module.

However, I have several questions for some of the folks that have had some experance with the Edge Performance equipment:

1- Do you need the gauge display? My dealer stated he puts a 5 postion switch on the dash and that you do not need the Attitude gauge display.??

2- I have read several posts that most people run at levels 2 or 3 and that running extended lengths of time at levels 4 and 5 will cause damage and reduce transmission life.
Anyone have actual experience? What level do you normally run everyday?

3- Are there any other concerns with the Edge product?

4- Is there any other gauge mounts instead of the pillar mount for the Attitude gauges...hate to give up entrance handle ...Bad knees.

5- Final question......Are these modifictions worth the money?

Thanks.......FSC225

I cant say much about the Edge as I have the Bully Dog TD but as far as gauge options... I just put a 3 gauge dash mount set up on mine and I like it. I too use the assist handle as does my wife and father. Works/looks good IMO.

Now if you go with the Edge monitor I think they make an A-pillar that retains the assist handle.

if you do any engine upgrades you must have gages of some kind to monitor the engine. EGT's get to high and you'll melt something expensive, boost numbers get too high and you'll shred the turbo.

are they worth the money, well, that depends on how deep your pockets are and if you will be able to support the addiction. Once you start BOMBing it is VERY hard to go back. however, if you run it on the lower settings then you will see a nice boost in fuel mileage, and a little performance. crank it up and be prepared to break something if you stand on it for a while.

I have a dual boost/EGT gage that I put into the SRT-10 grab handle. check out my gallery to see a pic, however there are adapters out there to use the hanger bolt for the grab handle to mount the monitor.

my $0.02 get the monitor, it will be worth it in the long run. it will keep your EGT's in check by de-fueling, and the same with boost numbers so you dont blow something. it also monitors tranny slipage and will de-fuel to keep the 48RE happy.

Yep- what Drew said. Get the monitor. They now have the pillar for my truck and you can get the handle and the speaker in it. It is about $80. I love the Edge Juice and I very rarely go over stage 3 unless I'm racing, someone made me mad (more smoke setting), or I just wanna show off. Stage 3 is an awesome power level but you will definately see the difference between stock and stage 1. Most people I know drive on the first couple of settings. Very good power in towing I will agree. See I am dumb at math- so when I look at a gauge it drives me nuts. With the monitor I can set my limits so I don't ruin it amd I can read it without thinking! My lift pump was going out before I put the Edge on and am now replacing it- monitor told me it was going out which I am thankful for. Before chip- I had hard shifts with my manual tranny and sometimes never wanted to go in gear. Weird to say- it feels brand new. I don't know if it's RPM's are better or what. My buddy had a V10- good trucks- suck a lot of gas. Edge helped my truck a few miles per gallon better.

I have the edge with the attitude monitor and love it. I have the pillar mount for it and it's very clean on the installed look.

One recommondation would be the ATS arc flow intake manifold... 30 min install, no moving parts, dealer cant say much about it and the performance is pretty awesome. one of the best mods i've done right after the edge install.

Edge has performed well for me.
I would also add that they make a Overhead console Cluster too[I found it at one of the vendor web site links} that would give you a 3 guage cluster which I believe is all you need Tranny temp,EGT and Boost.
as for the settings I talked directly to edge Techs and they suggested not running 4-5 all the time unless you do some serious mods like a tranny and cooler upgrade to lower EGT and Trans temps.
Hope this helps

Thanks the info......did not know if the Attitude monitor served any other purpose than displaying info. I do not want to added any performance equipment that will cause problems down the road or cause premature failure of the transmission.
What setting do you normally run the Edge?
Should you run the lowest level (1) for every day driving and just bump it up when needed?

that's how I used mine. there are 5 sub-settings for each level so you can tweek it anyway you like. I always ran the #1 setting with the lowest response for the best mileage boost. then ran level #3 with max response when I needed it.

I love the feeling when accelerating and pushing the stage button going down the road. When and when not in tow. Its amazing the power with just a push. I drive stage 3 normally- but been using 2 recently. Good gas mileage in all.
