pickup truck camper
does any body have a pickup truck camper in a 2004 or newer 2500 ctd? I was wondering why dodge says they do not recomend one in a 4x4 shortbox? I was thinking it might be the high center of gravity issue. any input? thanks. Dags
I am by no means an expert, but I think the reason is they made the "camper package" an option. The camper package consists of helper springs and a anti - sway bar. My two last Ford trucks and my current truck all were missing these items and all had the "not reccomened for slide in camper" disclaimer in the glove box. I think with the addition of these items you're good to go. I pull my camper behind me.
Dags, I had a truck camper in my 04, it was a short box, quad cab 2500, no problems. I had a sun-lite 8ft pop up truck camper, I left the tailgate down, never had a problem with it. I squated about 2 inches, and had no body roll, however it was the lighter of the truck campers. I would not go with a full 8 ft camper unless its a pop up just due to the weight being on the rear.
well thanks for the input. I was just tossing the idea around. i have a two horse trailer and was thinking about. buying a truck camper and pulling the horses at the same time. I should really buy a gooseneck horse trailer with the decked out living space built in. for only 30 to 50 G's yea rite
