2005 Front gasket PRICEY repair???
Dodge and Cummings both state that to change this front gasket on a 2005 2500, the motor has to be pulled. ANYONE seen this yet??? Estimate is close to $3000. (three thousand bucks)
which front gasket are you talking about. the front crank seal? timeing cover?
both of these can be done in frame, just have to remove the IC, rad, fan, and a few other things.

Timing cover. They, Cummings have raised the motor in order to get more room to remove the oil pan, but still not enough room. I have asked them about removing the tranny instead of the motor, and I am waiting for a response. Thanks for your reply.
this has to be the dealership. . .was the gasket leaking and where?
most of the time the oil pan isnt even removed, and in rare cases it is dropped down enough to get to the front seal to change it out at the same time. something doesnt sound right.

The motor has 198000 miles on it. I transport motorcycles and ATVs. Drew it is at the OKC Cummins Center. Removing the tranny worked and saved a lot of labor time. While removed I told them to replace any seals on the rear. This cost me more money, but why not do it while they are already there. After 100, 000 miles, I absolute hate taking the truck to any dealership. It has been my experience that dealerships are like a virus. Go in for one item and once fixed another goes wrong soon after. And once you find a good tech, they move to another location due to a lot of drama within that dealership.
