Default A F E Questions

I was thinking of getting an afe stage 2 for my 02 but its alittle pricey . I was wondering if it was worth the cash or is there something else i should look in to. I shoud be getting my superchips programmer tomorrow and I already have straight exaust . also if i do get the afe should i spend the extra money on the proguard 7 filter.....

if you get the pro guard, find out how big the flange is... mine is 6" flange & 9" long. I lost 1 mpg with it but gained some top end performance. Just be aware of the mileage issue...

What do you think would be the best one for fuel mileage steve . I really am more concerned about mileage more than power thats why i orderd the superchip. I also ordered it because of the tire size calibration .

your sig says you have a straight exhaust, do you do any towing at all? My suggestion would be to either a drop in filter or find a kit that does not have a huge air filter on it. I think the AFE kit without the pro guard has a smaller filter on it. My pro guard filter is huge with a 6" flange. I loose 1 mpg with it installed. I would also suggest a baffled muffler out back (only if you dont tow) I havent tried one yet but my mpg data showed me that when I deleted the cat and went to a straight thru muffler I lost another 1.0~1.25 mpg.

a free flowing setup will keep your egt's down and let the turbo cool faster but the cost of that is loss in low end torque and fuel economy. (my opinion).

so i'd say pick a setup that flows well but doesnt open up the intake too much.

you might want to check out the stage 2 but w/o the pro-guard filter...I think it has a 4.5" flange on the filter which shouldnt loose much low end. An intake tube is a must...
