weird turbo pulse
ok i finaly got 600 miles on the truck , so time to see what she got , man this thing is quick, stab the throttle about half way and she moves ,then after playing for 20 min some ***@@le cuts me of as i am merging onto the freeway bmw with some dude showing off for a blonde. so me being a red bloded guy said i dont think so. i looked in the mirror and saw 4 empty lanes to my left so i got just beside him and nailed it!! left across 4 lanes and he tried to keep up but to no avail 50- 85 and he was gone "screeming" turbo thanks to removed silencer ring and intake baffle (thanks drew!) one problem with foot planted around 78 -82mph felt like turbo was pulsing(gaining and losing boost) ?? drives fine since then did a 200 mile freeway trip after and ran great but have not stomped since then any ideas??
Your wastegate was probably opening and closing. And as far as pulsing, that's how a turbo operates. They are not continuously driven. They are "pulsed" by the release of exhaust from each cylinder. No matter how many cylinders there are, the turbo is still pulse driven. What year is your Ram? I don't know if the newer models defuel at all either.
Good luck.
Good luck.
yea its a 06 and after doinn some reading i would agree its the wategate. but no complaints here just filled up and even with playing got 16.8 hand calc. double my hemi ,gotta say best truck ive had!!
yup, waste gate. the boost will spike at 35# but the waste gate will usualy keep it to around 26#. my TST will delay the opening of the waste gate till 35# if I have the boost limiter on. with it off it is just scary how much boost it will push.
