Default 2nd Gen Catalytic Convertor?

Did the 2nd Generation Dodge CTD have a Catalytic Convertor on them? I have a 99 24v and recently replaced my whole exhaust system with a MBRP 4" straight through system. I threw the whole stock system including what I thought was a resonator in front of the muffler away. It was my understanding that Cat's were not put on Dodge CTD"s till 2003.5. In Jersey we have strict state inspection and they look. If in fact that was a Cat where do I get a good low restriction 4" replacement???

Are you happy with your new exhaust ?

Is it much different ( louder ) than your stock set up? How about your mileage, any better?

Very happy, a little louder inside definetly louder at the pipe, runs smoother, stronger milage up about 1-2 miles per gallon, EGT's lower.......

Anyone know if this was a resonator (which it looked like) or a Catalytic Convertor?

If it was round and short like a mini muffler, should be a resonator. I called my local dealer for verificaion on my 2002.

I called 3 dealers today to ask. The first one had no clue he said it was probably a Cat/resonator combo???, the second said it was a resonator and the third said it's a resonator but give me the last 8 digits of your Vin and I'll confirm it. I did and he did somehow.....now all I have to do it get past the fine people at NJ MVC Inspection next August with their mirrors.......
