Default ADJUSTING VALVES ON 24V

Well I'm a little over due for my valve adjustment and tranny service, on my 98.5 ctd has anyone adjusted the valves on the 24v. I have done it on my 12valve ctd but the owners manuel says do it @100k.
also says to service and adjust bands in tranny. I don't want to go to the dealer, anyone have any tips?

Follows are the instructions out of the 2001 service manual. I believe the engine is the same.
As it shows, the tranny referanced is the 47RE.

adjusting the valves is the same on the 24 valve as it is on the 12 valve, only difference is you have 12 more valves to do
