HP and Torque is on th engine data plate. Front driverside of front cover (by injection pump). Stock torque converter is good just for that, STOCK. It is junk along with the stock transmission. ATS has a good trans and TC that will take anything you can throw at it.

I have the ATS 5 Star TC. Has 5 clutch disks as opposed to only one. It's a TANK. When it goes into lockup, it snaps my head back. They nail ya $1400.00 and a $300.00 core. Shipping was like $65.00. My tranny guy says it's quite a unit. I kept my tranny case but have the assembly 4 parts. I added a shift kit as well. Last night, the temp where I live got down to 48 degrees. I drove about 30 miles to a rack track in the next county. My tranny temp never rose above 135 degrees during lockup. It is a beast of a tc.

Good luck.

You should upgrade the transmission and Torque Converter and add a "Lockup" controller.

I'm running the ATS 5 Star with the Commander Lockup controller. I am also running the ATS Stage 5 transmission with a billet input shaft. The trans is expensive and is probably a bit of overkill, BUT ATS will War. the TC for 150,000 miles and the Trans for 100,000 miles. To keep the War. in effect you must have the transmission serviced every 15,000 miles by a shop. There is no "Do It Yourself" on this, as a form must be filled out and sent in by the shop performing the service. BUT even if you put 500+ HP infront of the TC and Trans, and drag race your truck, ATS will still War. their units. I would expect you could run the TC and trans for more than 250,000 miles with proper service, and watching the trans. temp guage.
