Name is Jim.
From Texas
Driving a 1997 Ram 2500 5.9L cummins. 5 speed manual 4wd. Fifth gear disappeared once. Believe that is solved. Think it's around 250,000 miles and still towing 15-20,000lbs without to much complaints. All it's got is a fuel plate and a "cold" air intake, and a torch modified exhaust. Otherwise it's beat to hell and improvised like crazy to keep me working. It's a green and grey two tone with alot of dirt. Havn't washed it in like two years.

Been running the hell out of it and havn't had too many issues besides the 4wd never working when it's needed and it eating track bars like candy. Oh and the lift pump siezed due to the fuel plate mod. Think that was at about 190k. Easy enough fix though.

Mostly sought this site out for some comradery in owing this beat up coutryfied unstoppable cummins. If nothing else I can find some solutions to the long list of problems this truck has given me.

Oh yeah. Can't forget the alpine stereo. I'll likeley be asking alot of questions here, hope no one finds them too ...redundant or annoying It's time to either sell or do some major retrofitting.

I don't plan to post a picture since it is hideous to look at, but I do hope to revive it before i've totally trashed it. Or at least improve what's left.

Nice to meet y'all, and I hope i've got some wisdom to share while i'm trolling your forums.

welcome

I'm sure we can come up with some ideas to wake up that sleeping beast! (if that's what your looking for)

I lit a fire under my cummins *** and shes fought back a couple times, (busted trans, chewed through a couple turbos and a head gasket) but I set her straight and she ain't fought back since. runnin stronger than ever.

Greetings,
Jerry here (43), I recently traded my 2007 RAM 1500 Hemi quadcab 4x4 on a 2007 RAM 3500 megacab dually 4x4 with the Larime package with the 5.9L and an automatic transmission. I am still going through it to figure out what it has. The diesel is a new world to me, but I love the truck. Looking to get a bigger camper now.
