2007s on the lot
Was at the dealer today and saw a row of 2007 CTDs. The motor is the 5.9 L, and as far as I can tell by looking under the truck there are no additions to the exhaust system. I thought the '07s were supposed to have a larger engine and a new exhaust system. Can someone shed some light on this?

The operative word is "built" - so we're sure to see '07's with no additional smogging after 1/1/07 as they are built in advance of that...
Do you know why I would no longer get the E-Mail notification that someone has posted to the forum in the sections I still have indicated I want notification of in my profile - for some reason I just stopped getting the notifications this weekend...???

RE: 2007s on the lot
I read that there will be '07's with the 5.9's, then it maybe mid year that we will see the new 6.7L engine and ULSD show up at the gas stations. I buy my fuel at Love's and they have a sign on the pump already stating that running LSD in an '07 or newer diesel may cause damage!
Actuall the roll out of ULSD started June 1st of this year, but I have yet to see it anywhere I have purchased fuel. hard to believe that this new fuel will have 97% less sulfur! In the end we will ALL be running ULSD as that will be all that is sold by the end of 2010. This however is not a bad thing perhaps as they claim the new fuel has adding lubricity and stablility additives. I am not looking forward to the drop in MPG, which they claim should only be 1%. We will see about that!
My question is what about all these programers will we all have to upgrade or get new programs to run on the new fuel do to its lower engery density of the fuel? My feeling is that we will, time will tell shorly!

Those labels on the pump (saw them everywhere but the West in June) bug me - there are diesel '07 vehicles on the road already, and they are not going to be damaged by the LSD fuel!
Steve - I checked and all my set up is correct to receive the E-MAILs, but I still don't. Have you had anyone else complain of HOTMAIL filtering out those notification E-MAILs?

those built before 1/1/07 will have the 5.9 and no emissions crap, however after 1/1/07 the new 6.7 will be in as well as the emissions crap.
it's a mid year thing cummins and dodge like to do, besides if you look at the law it states those vehicles built on or after 1/1/07, so you can still have 07 model year out without the emissions.

from what I have seen there are actual sensors in the exhaust system to monitor engine performance and richen or lean depending. works much like the O2 sensors on gassers.
the 6.7 does sound like a good motor and would be dependable, but the EGR, particulate filter and the CAT all will pull fuel mileage down.
