fuel pressure gauge

RE: fuel pressure gauge
depending on what year your truck is, you could get the SRT10 guage pillar and mount it there. that way you still have the handle and can add 1 guage while keeping your truck stock looking.
Autometer has alot of different guages... I went with a panel that goes in the sunglass holder. not installed yet but getting anxious... (no free time)

RE: fuel pressure gauge
Dimmer switches for the illumination. If you give that gauge a full 12 volts+, it's pretty bright. It was distracting at night. Each gauge has a 10,000 ohm variable pot. The voltage gauge also has a on off switch mounted around the side in case I want it off completely.
I get a lot of truckers on the cb breakin my chops at night making comments about the gauges....lol. "Looks like a cockpit", "How pretty", etc. Then I straddle two lanes and let the smoke fly.
Do you know why truckers never get out of their cab to fight?
Ans...... Their mics aren't long enough.
Adios guys

RE: fuel pressure gauge
...sorry to change the subject jason...
DieselDemon - I've got the same gauges and have the same prob...they're too bright at night. I have em on the pillar and just turn the interior lights down far so it's at least comfortable to look past em. Is there a kit available to hook a separate dimmer to em like you have?

I installed the dimmers myself. All you do is cut the 12v+ illumination wire on the gauge, and solder the rheostat in series with it.
I buy all my electrical parts from http://www.mouser.com/
The part # you want is 652-6639S-1-103
These are the specs on them http://www.bourns.com/pdfs/6539.pdf
They seem expensive but they are a very precision pot. I can go from full brightness to no illumination at all. The level of dimming is quite impressive. I can guarantee they will dim enough so that your eyes are not fixed on them. Just make sure that the power wire that feeds the gauges is NOT hooked into your dash light circuit. If you add a few gauges, it will cause the factory dimmer to burn out. Use a seperate, FUSED, 16 gauge or larger, pos and neg. Put a 10 amp fuse in line. You're all protected.
The ***** themselves I bought from Radio shack. The cat # 274-403. Don't quote me but that's the number on my package. I have 12 extra ***** for when I add the rest of the gauges....lol.
It's an easy install. Any other questions you can PM me.
Good luck.

Wow. Thanks DieselDemon. I'll definitely keep that post in a file somewhere in case I feel frisky and wanna do that install. Sounds kinda technical for me, but we'll see.
Thanks again!
