Hockey season starts tomorrow...
Doesn't get cold enough to really need a block heater. Watch out for the sunset highway, run's in from the west. Might as well call it death row. I got an Uncle down there in Beaverton, he's a computer programmer, travels the highway everyday to portland. I also remeber hearing on the news about squirrels attacking people down there.
Steve00 - no offense to Jakebrake, but I've been there when the rain that fell turned to ice so bad on the roads (ironically the old Bertha-Beaverton highway) that even the city buses couldn't go anywhere - only somebody who had chains could drive. And there were many winters where we had snow on the front lawn, and couldn't get up the road than ran parallel to I-5 (used to be 99) without chains. Granted I didn't have a CTD or any diesel then, but any time water freezes I figure the block heater is a good thing. Heck, I use the one on my ISC whenever it gets down in the thirties overnight and I haven't run it for twelve hours (it's amazing how long those thick diesel blocks can hold heat though...)
So drizzle - people I knew who moved there from Cali would complain that it always seemed to rain on the weekends...why couldn't it rain during the week they lamented. But, truth be, they almost always got used to it and stopped complaining. But it is damp - that's why it's so green and pretty around town. I think as long as a grey skies and a little rain, and some cold winter days, don't bother you, you'll like it there.
I am the one who lives outside of Fres-yes - talk about a different climate, eh?

yeah you sure did go from one extreme to the other. Both my wife and I love the rain and wont mind it a bit. we havent had the chance to look around much during our trips up that way and would prefer to be east of I205 up about 500~1000' in elevation. A couple we'd like to check out are the Sandy area outside the Oregon City area, any suggestions? the goal being to be in the pines some but within 30~40 mintues of Portland.
All I have to say for you avalanche and Dallas fans out there is thank you for taking out our garbage here in Montreal. If you know your hockey, then you know what I'm talking about. And even though the friggin' russian invasion is already complete here, the Habs looked damn strong last season, I'm hoping this is a continous climb.
