yea, thats the one.

also, it isnt that hard to fill the filter, just get it most of the way, you dont have to top it off, but the more you put in there the less time that will pass while you have air pumped over the turbo's bearings. this is something that needs to be done on all turbocharged engines.

Does it take the engine that long to fill the filter after starting it up ? I would think that it would fill the filter immediately.

That "ball valve" is a Fumitomo valve. Over on the Ford site I used to visit everyone there used it and raved about it. I always worried about 3 things. 1) pulling the thing off by running something over (off road), 2) Someone draining my oil without me knowing, 3) My old truck had a magnet in the drain plug, the valve does not.

Every vehicle I have ever owned got the filter filled at least part way when changing the oil. There is no other way to do it in my opinion.

I have the valve drain plug. I got the one without the nipple so it wouldn`t hang down as far. I bought the magnet one first, but it never picked up anything so I changed it because oil changes on these trucks can be messy. I don`t worry about hitting the valve while driving. Your gonna hit the axle first, and some other things as well. You would know to go outside the check and for truck damage IMO. I love the valve. Anyone want the one with the magnet(got it from genos) I change the filter from under the truck (much easier for me) Kevin

I changed my oil this weekend. It was the "make myself feel better first 2000 mile change"

I manage to read everything, had the 15 quart oil pan, the oil filter "wrench" cause the first removal is harder (it was), the plastic bag to fit over the oil filter and a big old sheet of plastic to go under the truck (you can slide better than on concrete)

It all went horribly wrong.

I put the drain pan under the truck, loosened the drain plug and everything is fine. went to the garage to get a socket extension and when i turned around oil is running out from under the truck. It seems that the truck drains faster than the oil pan can accept it. [sm=boink3.gif]

Ok, most of it is on the plastic so its not too big a mess.

I get the oil filter loosened with some effort and put the gallon zip lock bag around it. [sm=goodidea.gif]

When it hit the ground, oil went everywhere. The bumper, the tire, my shoes, the suspension. I spent 30 minutes wiping and washing every surpface I could find. It still smells a little like oil and I'll probably be spending the next month getting getting the oil off my driveway... [sm=boohoo.gif]

Anyone need an oil soaked pair of sneakers???? [sm=smiley26.gif]

The valve drain plug slows down the flow to a very managable level. Its one of the reasons I got mine. Kevin

I too was a little worried about ripping it off, but I kinda doubt that it would really happen. I don't do any off roading at all. Probably the only thing I might snag it on is a snow drift in the winter.

Luckily I don't think I have any enemies that would drain my oil. More than likely they would just punch me in the cake hole.

As far as I know,my stock plug doesn't have a magnet, so I'm not really worried about not having one.

Thanks for the feedback !!

The one with the nipple only sticks down 1/2" more than the one without. I think it would make things cleaner by just slipping a hose over the nipple and letting it rip !!

If this doesn't work without the tube attached, then how long is the tube? does it just hang there?
