Default High Idle Enabled

Woo Whoo!

Took it in to get the high idle enabled. The service advisor had no clue what I was talking about or that they it even was a feature. Now they know.

Explained it to them, they hooked her up, 10 minutes later all was well.

Works rather nicely.

It'll be nice to have that extra juice when I have the winch running or just warming her up in the morning.

it will work the best on those cold mornings, crank her up and set the idle to 1200rpm.

it is also real good if you have a PTO

Cumminalong,

Did you say winch? Would you have any pictures of your winch setup?

I called my dealer and they explicitly told me that this feature was already enabled in 2005, 2006 and beyond models. I guess they were talking outta their collective....uh....backsides. Can you provide some *specific* information (terminology, page numbers in manuals, what devices to use and how, etc etc.) that I can take with me to the dealer so they'll actually attempt to do this for real and not just gaff me off again?

Super thanks!!!!!

**Edit -- I should have been more clear about the dealer saying it was already enabled. I then asked them why I couldn't engage the feature and they said because the ambient temps have to be low enough first and that there is actually nothing to engage anymore as the computer will kick in the high idle automatically when necessary.

Le'me run outside and get a few pics. Mine is a Warn 9000ti Multi-mount, so it can put it front or rear.

All I have is it on the rear right now. I need to order the front receiver so I can mount it up there. Front hitch is cheap, only like $100 - 130.

As for the high idle....take the guy outside, put the truck in park and turn the cruise control on. Then hit the set button......if it does not go to 1000 - 1100 rpm, then the high idel IS NOT enabled. The temperature is completely irrelevant.

Once it's turned on, you can adjust it up or down using the accel / decel buttons.

If he tells you it's enabled and it's not working like this, he's a crack head....go to different dealer.

Be right back, gonna get a few pics. These were of it on my old truck.

Okay, here is the setup.

Like I said, I don't have a front receiver yet. This is on the back.

I had to pull the power wires out the other day before I brought it to the dealer..............didn't want any friggin excuses from them, so I have to put those back in.

Here is is. Nice setup if you wanna use it for work type tasks.

One more.

This is the main reason I wanted the high idle......just so i could get the alternator spooled up and putting out more juice so I wasn't lugging the batteries with a pull.

Thank you. I appreciate the pictures. I don't have the link anymore, but read about another guy that made is own front receiver and it looked very solid. It turned out it was done on a gas truck and wouldn't work on our CTD's due to the intercooler, I believe. At least it wouldn't be able to mount as high. I am still throwing around getting a winch, but can't shell out $1500-$2000 for a new front bumper to house the winch. I am throwing around the idea of the Warn Transformer or taking your approach. My Tacoma (traded for the CTD) was sporting a winch and it came in very handy a few times....

Thanks Again,
Brent

NICE truck !!!

Every time I see those cab lights I think more and more about putting them on.

Don't you find those headlight covers too dark?
