Truck died at stop light, any ideas appreciated
I have a 04 2500 with cummins, takin off from a stop light she just died, tried start it and it fired up but when I hit the pedal it died again then it wouldn't fire at all. My first thought was fuel filter, so i put a new filter in and primed it and nothing. Had her towed home and a fews hours later started up after turning it over awhile. Figured all was good so drove to pick up my daughter and it died about 10 minutes driving. Any ideas?? Is this the fuel pump (liftpump)?? Is the fuel pump in the tank? Is it possible it could be the injector pump or the ECM? any help greatly appreciated

when the ECM died in mine, it would crank and crank and would not start. if yours will run and then die, I would think it may be something else. thats my experience,,,, buuuuuuutt,,,,,, the mighty god of ctd's,[sm=hail.gif] Drew, can probably tell you more.

Ended up being a bad lift pump. Dodge replaced it with a pump in the tank. Yesterday was the first time ive fueled up since the new pump was installed and in the past my truck has NEVER taken more than 35 gallons ( I have a 34 gallon tank) and yesterday it took 38 gallons. Dodge told me that they have no idea why this is. Anyone heard of this? Or is the fuel station scamming?

there is a tank bypass line that can be installed that will give you that type of capacity. there is a bulge in the back of the tank for 'GAS' expansion, however we run 'DIESEL' that doesnt expand like 'GAS'. this hump when utilized gives the tank an overall capacity pushing near 40 gallons.
