Default Fuel Additives

Ok guys, I'm gonna go agaist the grain for a minute. I was using the Drews Brew for about 6 - 8 tanks. The last two tanks I was driving for ecomony (slow and easy). I developed a morning smoke and miss issue that I believed was a sticky injector, that clears its self up after a few minutes and some warmth. So I ran it hard pulling my camper and still no love. I decided to try a different additive, went by my local auto parts store and found Lucas fuel additive. I ran a tank of it and ran truck a little harder, things got a little better. On second tank now and pulled camper good and hard this weekend, problem seems solved now.

It may be coinsidental, but I am wondering now. Fuel economy on first tank held at 18.1 MPG (best ever was 18.6 on drews brew) mixed driving, I'll be filling up tomorrow for second tank and will see what that nets me mileage wise.

I don't want to start a brand war, just wanted to see what others think.

Steve00,

YES, Lucas is made for both the gasser and the diesel and strange enough they come in the same bottle so there is no question as to if you got the right stuff. The Lucas is made to increase octane and also clean out the injestors. Lucas has been around for many, many years and is used in alot of the racing applications.

I have used Lucas in both gas and diesel. I just don't know how much lub you get from the 5.5 oz bottle of Lucas. With the price of PS going up Lucas maybe a bit cheaper to use at $26.00 a gallon, that is if I am working my calulater correctly.

Well before I try a gallon of Lucas I have 6.5, 96 oz jugs of white PS to go through or about a 6+ months supply. [sm=bounceybounce.gif] I stocked up at $10.66 a jug at Wally World while they were price matching a local store.[sm=goodidea.gif]

steve, I used 10 onces to a tank per directions. It is for diesel or gas. It has a consistency of a light oil and claims lube properties.

I filled up today mileage for mixed driving and a round trip to the lake with the camper netted 15.928MPG (average for same type of driving is 15.7 on drews brew). I am on my third tank now, we'll see how it goes. Still have not had smoke or miss in the morning, which is why I tried it to begin with.

Steve,

Thats not fair[sm=boohoo.gif] I have to pay $9.97 + tax at my local Fleet Farm store for a gallon of MMO. Wally wants $11.95 + tax a gallon here. So how did you get it for 3 bucks a gallon?
