Stupid question about engine block heater.
Picked up the cord for the engine block for my '06 2500 CTD this afternoon in prep for winter. I can't find where it plugs in. Anyone have a picture or some hints on where its located. Argh, I feel stupid. I was told its right behind the radiator.
it plugs in on the passenger side of the block, just above and to the rear of where the oil filter sits. I assume your talking about the one that goes to the front of the truck for you to plug an extention cord into right? there are a couple of threads going on right now on this so have a look at them. IIRC, there is a pic in one of them.
I ran mine down and under the big hose that comes from the radiator, along it and threaded it out past radiator on passenger side then down by the tow hook behind the bumper. Then I don't have to open hood to plug in, just reach in and plug in. .When you unplug, tuck it back behind bumper. Hope this makes sense and helps.

I just put mine on and all was good till I got an engine light, but that looks like a battery sensor. I plug on the block had a black cap on it. Its real easy to install. The only question is on the cord it has plastic taps to secure the cord to something but they dont line up with anything. Just make sure the dont rub on anything.

Do the tabs slide on the cord? I'm sure they're there for a reason. Even if they don't line up with an existing bolt, I'd at least drill out a hole and bolt it in. Just for piece of mind if nothing else.
For those of yo fortunate enough to own a 03 and up Ram, I just found this on Geno's site. It looks like it'll make life a bit easier and it looks cool too !!

The block heater provided on the Cummins Turbo Diesel makes for quick warm-ups on cold mornings, and it is almost a necessity in the norther latitudes. But, rooting around behind the bumper in cold, soggy weather just to find and uncover the plug can certainly discourage its use.
Install a WigiDigit Block Heater Bumper Plug on your truck, and you have the heater connection located on a fixed position right up front behind a flip-open, waterproof cover. One hand can snap open the cover then plug in the power cord.
Installation consists of simply wiring in the 15-amp Marinco Connect Charge (TM) inlet plug into the factory block heater cord, and mounting the black, powder-coated bumper plate with one stainless steel bumper bolt
