Default Brake pad spreader

Ok guy's don't laugh.

I'm looking through the Geno's catalog still trying to figure out what to add to my oil plug order, and I spotted this interresting tool called a brake pad spreader. Kinda looked interresting and I was wondering if they really worked as advertised. They claim to make installing disc brakes a easier job. I KNOW they're a bitch to install on my bikes sometimes so if having this tool is helpfull I'm all fo it.

Anyone have one?

Opinions?

Compresses Brake Pistons in seconds. Squeeze the handle and the fast-acting plunger compresses disc brake pistons in seconds. Makes brake pad replacement an easy job.

I'm looking at that spreader, and I have to ask........ are you sure you're not at the OBGYN instead of the A U T O parts store?

[sm=funnypostabove.gif].........sorry buddy, sometimes love is harsh.

You don't need that. Take the cap off the master cylinder and push the piston back by hand. Buy an extra set of bushings and caliper slide pins. Good GOD man! Buy a C clamp if you got money. Get one with a real good "C" shape to it.

I'll bet my money you have L.E.D. dice for your tire's, valve stem covers.....

Guys........I guess I will be the one to say. MAYFAIR NEEDS AN INTERVENTION.

How do you fit channel locks in there? I thought the tool was used to compress the pads while they were still on the caliper while the caliper .....

ahh ... you know what, I'm mixing brake jobs up. When changing brakes on my bikes, the calipers stay mounted to the fork / frame, so it's a real bitch to compress the caliper enough to slide the new pads in. I usually wind up using a combination of a couple of putty knives as well as a flathead screwdriver. Doing the inside pad is rough !! A tool like this MIGHT make life easier on the bikes, but yeah, when doing anything else the caliper comes off so yeah, I too just use channel locks and a block of wood.

Brain fart .... nevermind

Yeah, that tool DOES look like it could be a little fun in the bedroom. Kinda like Bachelor party with Tom Hanks and the spatula.

I have the manual version of that... no trigger, just the pad and the plunger which is on a screw that you turn (has a **** on it) cost like $10 bux or so. how much is it? if it's ~$10 bux, go for it.

I would suggest filters though... oil, fuel.

No, no L.E.D.'s or anything like that, but you may be onto something, I MAY need an intervention !! Since hanging out here all I want to do is mod my Ram.
