In changing my feul filterin my 98.5 ctd I noticed small metal filings in the bottom of my canister, in which I said OH OH, lift pump is going out, caught it in time, installed the Fass, lift pump only, clean and sweet for around $650.00 installed.
this sounds like an edit is due to Drews DIY filter swap... look for anything unsual in the bottom of the filter housing??? what do you think Drew?

Yeah I was looking at that set up, but two things bothered me about it.

1st, I like the FASS with the whole filtering thing done under the truck. It just looks a heck of a lot easier to maintain to me. That Wallbro kit didn't seem to have one. The FASS filters look HUGE too !!

2nd, that whole pre filter thing on the wallbro made me a bit nervous. It say's that you'll NEED to have it otherwise warrantys will not be honored or something like that. That little filter looks kinda small if you ask me, and why are we talking about repairs already?

I've only been here a short time, but so far I haven't heard one bad thing about the FASS system. As usual though, I DO have some questions ...

What happens to the stock lift pump? Does it just stay wherever it is? As a matter of fact, WHERE IS the stock lift pump?

Why can't you just use the existing line to the gas tank?

How much is replacing the V44 or whatever the heck it's called? Is it more than $600.00? Is doing this mod really worth it?

The only thing I dont care for on that FASS SYSTEM is how far it looks to hang down under the body line. I have a 4x4 with a lift and that would stick out like a sore thumb. But, I could learn to live with it rather than buying a new injector pump!

Did you look at that link that I put up? It doesn't look like it sticks down very far at all. As a matter of fact, with my running boards on I don't think you'll see it at all. I wonder if it can be mounted sideways?
