I have an 06 3500 and I can't get that ring to budge.

 

Mine was like that too... you just have to keep at it until you get a good bite on it. I used a tweaker (small) screw driver and a scratch awl. Once I got under it I placed the awl behind the ring to get another bite with the screwdriver. Then it just peeled right out.

It'll come out.

 

i was confused at first than noticed the thread is over a year old... lol they arent too hard to remove i did it on an 02

 

mine was the same way! like solar said, you just have to keep on keepin untill you get a good bite. to be honest i did not notice that much of a diffrence when i took mine out but like everyone say's it is a free "upgrade" if thats what you want to call it and you can always put it back in if you wanted...

 

gutting the air intake tube to the turbo will help it whistle louder
