I gotta put my 2 cents in on this one. Mounting them down by your 4x4 shifter doesn't sound like a good place, unless you don't mind looking down all the time to eye spy them.
"BAM! oooops. Sorry officer. I was looking down at my gauges and didn't see the little old lady in front of me slam on her brakes trying to avoid running over the kitty."
See my point? Personally, I'd keep them either on the A-pillar, top of steering column, and/or top of dash. Besides, up there everyone else can see them and wonder "Hmmm..........should I try and embarass him, or does he have alot of ponies under his hood to embarass me?"
Also, for quick use, I'd stuff the bat between the seats! I'd hate to see you have to fumble around in a pinch trying to lift that string over your shifter while pulling the bat out.

As far as the bat goes, I'm not really sweating that either. I've had no probs getting it when I needed it !!

Don't sweat the CB radio Mayfair. I have a 10/11 meter setup in my truck. And baby, it's got swing..LOL.
I used to run a high drive Palomar under the seat. Used to heat that Wilson antenna to the point where it would burn skin....lol.

I aint sweatin the CB, but I WOULD like to have it tuned up. I remember back in the day taking my old CB to my neighbors house and he did some sort of tuning toit and when he was done with it MAN .... it was almost like I caould reach China !! He's no longer with us, but I'd love to find someone else who could do it. Do you know of anyone who tunes CB's ??

Mayfair - about the CB's, I'd give my recommendation 1stopelectronics.com. Frank over there I'm sure would hook you up right. He's the only man I let touch my radios anymore. I know he's in the process of moving his store, so he might be a bit hard to reach for a few days.

Thanks for the heads up !! Do you know the guy? I'd like to have my current radio tuned up, not have someone try to sell me a new one. I like my current radio because it fits right and I like the red numbers.
